Similar to a sponge, SwellGel’s biodegradable water storing crystals do just what they say – they release moisture when the compost starts to dry out. They also reduce the need to water as often as you would without them, and they limit over-watering. And your plants will grow better because the crystals reduce the fluctuation in moisture.
Simply mix 1gm per litre of compost for tubs, pots and containers, and 1.75gm per litre for hanging baskets. If the level of water in the compost drops, water is released from the gel – for 2 years or more.
